Our Process

To begin, Dr. Wickness will see you for a comprehensive dental exam to make sure your teeth and gums are in good health. We’ll also take photos and optical scans to obtain the measurements and data needed for him to custom-design a smile right for you. If you have any photos that capture your ideal look, bring those along too. Then comes the fun part – smile design! Dr. Wickness will listen closely as you describe your vision for your smile, and he’ll provide insights based on your unique facial aesthetics.

Once he’s developed a design that you love, he’ll create a set of provisional veneers for you to try on and wear while you wait for your porcelain veneers to be ready. Then it will be time to prepare your teeth for your new smile. Because your veneers are so thin (about as thick as your fingernail), your teeth will require only a minimal amount of preparation. This involves shaving a small margin of the enamel off of the surface of each tooth getting veneered. Next, digital impressions will be made of your prepared smile so that your veneers can be fashioned for precise fit. Dr. Wickness will place your provisional veneers and make any necessary changes before sending the impressions and design specifications to the master ceramist, who will get to work on making your vision a reality.

When your finished veneers have arrived at our office, we’ll let you know so you can come try them on! Dr. Wickness will use a temporary paste to adhere them so that you can get a good feel for them before they are permanently bonded. This is where his Beautiful Smile Guarantee comes in. He’ll make sure that you are excited about your new smile before moving forward with bonding. If anything needs to be adjusted, he’ll communicate the changes to the lab so that your finished veneers are exactly the way you envisioned them.
