Nashville All-on-4 Dental Implants
Have you been told you may need bone grafting in order to receive implant-supported dentures? Here’s some good news: even if you have low bone quantity, there is a way that you can get dental implants without undergoing bone grafting. Using the All-on-4 method, Dr. David Wickness can create for you a beautiful new smile that fits comfortably and securely.
How Do All-on-4 Dental Implants Work?
Implant-supported dentures are secured to the jaw by way of fixtures implanted in the bone. When enough bone is present, these fixtures are typically situated vertically, but if bone quantity is lacking, they can be placed at an angle to make the best use of the bone available. This means that you can enjoy the comfort and stability of implant-supported dentures without having to deal with bone grafting!
The All-on-4 method gets its name because it can be done with as few as four implants. However, the procedure may involve the use of 5 or 6 implants when needed to achieve the desired level of denture stability.

Dental implants will ensure that your denture stays comfortably where it should so that you can go on eating, smiling, and laughing without concern for the stability of your teeth. And to Dr. Wickness, the beauty of your denture is just as important as its function. He partners with a first-class dental laboratory which uses high-quality materials to bring you a beautiful smile that will look and feel like your own natural teeth.
Your New Smile, From Start to Finish
Our process begins with a complete dental exam. During the exam, we’ll review your medical history to make sure you are a good candidate for dental implant surgery. We’ll also take intraoral scans and a CBCT scan that gives us a crucial three-dimensional view of your jaw, sinuses, and nasal cavities. From this information Dr. Wickness will be able to assess your bone quantity as well as determine the exact placement of each implant fixture.
At this appointment, Dr. Wickness will also work with you to decide on the best design for your dentures. He’ll want to hear your vision for your new look, so feel free to bring along a photo of a smile you love. Once your ideal design is established, he’ll take impressions of your jaw to create a temporary denture and send all specifications to the dental laboratory where your permanent denture will be made.
For your surgery, we will refer you to one of our trusted oral surgeons, who will place the implants precisely as prescribed by Dr. Wickness. Your temporary denture will be affixed for you to wear while you wait a few months for your implants to fuse to the bone around them in a process known as osseointegration. During this time, it is important that you don’t put too much pressure on your temporary denture, as this can permanently disrupt osseointegration. After a few months, Dr. Wickness will place your permanent denture, and your new smile will be complete!
