Nashville Cosmetic Dentures

Your dentures should be made to fit and made well. By undergoing a thorough process, Dr. David Wickness custom designs beautiful, quality dentures to bring you as much comfort and stability as possible.

Quality Dentures by a Cosmetic Dentist

The aesthetics of your dentures are just as important as their function. As a candidate for accreditation with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Wickness has committed himself to an in-depth process of study and practical examinations in cosmetic dentistry. He is dedicated to restoring the beauty of his patients’ smiles.

In an effort to cut costs, some dentists will shortcut the process of denture design, resulting in a less than desirable fit and a compromise in comfort. Dr. Wickness follows a complete design process that allows you to get the most out of removable dentures.

Our Process

The first step in our comprehensive process is to take a preliminary physical impression of your upper and lower arches. From this we create a custom-fitted tray for each arch that we use to take two more detailed impressions. The first of these is done with a heavy-bodied putty material to map out the general boundaries of each arch. The second involves the use of a light-bodied putty material to pick up the smaller details in each arch’s shape.

Once the impressions are done, we move on to establishing the proper bite for your dentures. We construct a simple prototype by adding wax rims to two temporary acrylic bases. Then we place the wax rims in your mouth and easily adjust them as needed to form the ideal bite. A tool called a Fox Plane also helps with measuring vertical distance at this part of the process.

When the precise design of your dentures is complete, we submit it to the dental laboratory technician. From the design, your new teeth are created and fashioned initially to the wax rims. This gives you the chance to try them on before they are made permanent in order to make sure everything looks and feels just right. After making any necessary adjustments, we have the technician finish your dentures by placing the teeth in a permanent acrylic base. That new smile will be all yours!

We are confident that our quality-made dentures will give you the highest comfort and stability removable dentures have to offer. Of course, nothing can beat the feeling of having your natural teeth back. If you long to have that feeling again, we invite you to consider implant-supported dentures.

The Benefits of Implant-Supported Dentures

With dental implants, your dentures can be affixed permanently to your jaw as though they were rooted there like your natural teeth. This means they’ll never slide around on you — not even a little bit — and you’ll never have to be without them. You’ll be able to eat, smile, and laugh confidently without giving your teeth a second thought. On top of that, the dental implants actually protect your jaw. When your teeth are all gone, your body gets the message that your jawbone is no longer needed and starts to disintegrate it. Over time, this process (known as bone resorption) results in facial collapse and greatly affects not only your facial structure but also your mouth’s ability to even hold a denture in.
