Will Invisalign Work on If You Have Missing Teeth?

I have a one back tooth, a bicuspid, that was removed, and it’s matching pair on the other side of my mouth which needs to come out. They were both still baby teeth. Can Invisalign work around missing teeth? Will I need to get dental implants for the bicuspids in order to get my teeth straightened?  I’d love to get a smile I’m proud of, but don’t want to get metal braces.

Dear Annie,

So, I’ve got good news and more good news for you. Invisalign is good at working around missing teeth. In fact, in the cases of overcrowding, teeth often have to be removed in order to make room for proper alignment, so missing teeth are often part of the treatment.

I would call around to a few Invisalign dentists and see what they say about your case without telling them what any of the other dentist’s said.

You should not need dental implants for the bicuspids if you’re having your teeth aligned. If you were just removing them without the orthodontics, then that would be a different story. As it is, you’ve got a pretty good situation here.

Just to make it even more exciting for you, as well as save you some money, did you know that Invisalign aligners can double as teeth whitening trays?  That means your dentist can provide you with some professional strength teeth whitening gel for you to use while you are straightening your teeth.

By the time you are done with your treatments, you will have straight teeth AND white teeth, giving you a mini smile makeover for less money than if you had done both procedures seperately.
